Materials to Be Used in Creating a Homemade Bike Lift

Bikes can be used for a number of purposes. It can be used as utility, for work, recreation, racing, and even in military and shows. Aside from its many uses, it is also energy efficient. A person can use bicycles without spending a single cent for crude oil. An individual has now saved significant amount of money, he has also helped in saving the environment from getting destroyed. To use bikes to its full extent, a person must make sure that his bike is kept or stored in a proper place. Putting it in the garage is a good way to keep a bike from getting damaged but there are things that must be done.

A good bike storage must make the bike safe from any potential source of damage as well as keeping it from hurting anyone. There is a number of bike storage available in the market and one example is the bike lift. With a bike lift, a person can just hang his bike through his ceiling or wall saving him a lot of floor space which he can use for other purposes. By utilizing the ceiling or wall in the garage or any room for that matter, a person can maximize every space found in his house.

There is a number of bike lift in the market and most of that type of bike storage uses the most advanced technology. Instead of a manual lift, some types uses electricity to hang the bike above the ground. This obviously cost big bucks and not a lot of people can afford it.

This type of bike storage can be made by any person as long as he has the proper materials used. A person must make sure that the materials he would use are not substandard to ensure safety for his own family. Some of the materials to be used are five feet rafter, two large hooks which will serve as the holder of the bike, 50 feet rope, five pulleys in the same size as the rope (must have swivel heads), three hooks with screw threads (or monster-sized cup hooks), and an eye bolt that is in the same size as the hooks. A drill bit that is smaller than the core of the hook shank, brackets, utility screws or drywall screws, and wrenches are other materials that can be used to create a homemade bike lift. Optional equipment includes cheapo carabiners and lighter, which will help in fixing the rope end.

When it comes to bike lift, a person does not to spend a lot of money to keep his bicycle in a proper place. One only needs a creative and innovative mind to be able to think of ways to store the bike properly without breaking his pocket.
