London Seaports

The United Kingdom is home to about 100 seaports. Many ports and port cities in the UK have developed and expanded over the years offering great support to trade and tourism in the UK.


Dover seaport is located in the Southeastern coast of England in Kent. It's one of world's most popular and busiest ports opened in 1606. It's a cross-channel and owned and operated by Dover Harbour Board. It is one of Europe's largest passenger ports serving over 16 million passengers, two million freight vehicles, 2.5 million cars and coaches annually.

The Port of Dover has two docks namely the Eastern Docks and the Western Docks that are about a kilometer apart. Cash machines, bureau de change services, information desks, special assistance and a wide range of shops and eateries are available for passengers. It is easy to get to the port by road from the M20 and the M2. The port is accessible by train from the town's railway station.


Harwich is a modern multipurpose port located on the east coast in Essex. This port was built as a rail ferry port in the 1880s and has developed over the years into one of UK's busiest passenger ports. Harwich Port was privatized in 1984 and is currently owned and operated by Hutchison Port Holdings.

Harwich Port is a natural gateway to Europe and holds British Safety Council's Five Star Award. The port was recently renovated with many additional facilities in the terminal including spacious lounges, restaurants, cafes, shops, currency exchange offices and many other facilities. Special facilities are available for the disable and streamline check-in system is in use. The port has also has good parking options. International ferry services operate to Denmark and Holland from the port.


Liverpool is one of the most important ports in Britain that serves as the major gateway for trade with the United States and Canada. Being the largest of the peel ports, it is UK's second richest freight vicinity and is easily accessible by road and rail services. It is Britain's most diverse port and handles different ranges of cargoes and also imports more grain and animal feed than any port in the UK and is also the leading exporter of scrap metal for recycling process.

The terminals have excellent facilities with enough space to relax with some drinks and snacks. The Twelve Quays River terminals is a brand new ultra modern terminal with lots of facilities including a lounge, rest area with shower facilities, covered check-in areas, special assistance for the disabled and much more.
