You Never Know When Someone May Catch a Dream From You

February 06, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 170

I have read a lot of inspirational words that have motivated me in my work and have pushed me to take my artistic skills to new heights. I have been fortunate to have been surrounded by family and friends who have encouraged my dreams, no matter how difficult they may be to achieve. But where do we learn how to dream big? When we are little, we can be anything we want. "Mommy, I want to be a rocket scientist!" Daddy, I want to be a famous pop star!" And a lot of the time we heard "You can be anything you want to be." But somewhere along the way that notion changes.

As kids get older and become adolescents, the idea of achieving great things by following your dreams gets stuck in what many adults call "reality". It's too competitive. You aren't good enough. There is no security in that kind of career. Many adults have this nasty little habit of restricting the dreams of those around them because of their own fear of failure. With all do respect, if that is your attitude please keep it to yourself! Anybody who has contributed something of significance to the world usually did so, because they had an idea or a dream and had the guts to follow it and not give up.

Young people have a unique opportunity to learn how to dream big through participating in the arts. Whether it's putting on a show to perform in front of an audience in only 4 weeks or creating a mural to display in a public park, the arts teaches kids how to have an idea and see it through to fruition. It teaches kids to push beyond the boundaries of what they think they are capable of achieving. As adults, it is our responsibility to foster the dreams of young people, no matter how big or challenging those dreams may be to achieve. Where would Craig Kielburger be today had his dream of helping impoverished children around the world been stifled? The organization, Free The Children, would not exist, and what a sad thing that would be. Craig's organization has impacted more than one million young people in 45 countries around the world, all because at the age of 12, Craig had a dream and followed it.

So the next time you have the opportunity to inspire someone to dream, whether they are a child or an adult, please do it! Because you never know when someone may catch a dream from you and change the world forever.

You never know when someone May catch a dream from you. You never know when a little word Or something you might do May open up the window Of a mind that seeks the light. The way you live may not matter at all But you never know - it might.

And just in case it could be That another's life, through you, Might possibly change for the better, With a broader and brighter view. It seems it might be worth a try at pointing the way to what's right. Of course, it may not matter at all, but then again - it might. - Author Unknown
