The Other Side

Sometimes, I'm not really a happy guy...

It has something to do with seeing the truth, not the lie.

You see, we're meant to live a certain way;

to be open and honest, to walk in the light of day.

But anyone who's someone will testify

that as a people, we're more than just a little sly.

We've done things that would make children cry;

I've said things to people, given them the evil eye.

Let's just be blunt and say it:

The law exists for our own good... but we just don't obey it.

We're a rebellious bunch, we don't like authority;

instead we look upon it and scoff, righteousness our lowest priority.

Now all of us are rebels, enemies to the king.

It's so beautifully strange how he loves us, so ill-deserving.

It's this love that transforms, this love that sets free;

Because of which, I'll never be the same me.

A glance at the beginning reveals that I'm not really a happy guy;

when I think of what we did to him, I almost begin to cry.

I may not be the happiest, but I do have joy;

an unending hope I can gaze upon, through the eyes of a little boy.

The good news is that he gave his life for me.

Though I was a slave to my evil ways, he has totally set me free.

Not only that, he invites me into his home;

where I'll have perfect peace and joy and love, sweet as a honeycomb.

What's even better is he's coming back to judge the world;

to take home his kids, his little boys and girls.

But here's the truth: it's not all fun, candy and rainbows and lollipops.

It's eternal hell for the ones who don't accept it; the ones who call it poppycock.

Every day is an opportunity, every day is a choice.

Those who choose Jesus have every reason to rejoice.

Imagine spending forever and ever in the arms of your loving creator.

It's either that or spending it in the exact opposite of an icy refrigerator.

It's a hot, painful place with no hope, love or fun.

But for the ones who choose Jesus, the war has already been won.

So there's your choice, life or torment?

Carefully consider this life-changing moment.

I'm done writing; it's your chance to decide.

I sincerely hope I'll get to meet you on the other side.

I love Jesus. I'm quite happy to say I'm a Christian. I write stuff like this all the time. If you'd like to read it, you could totally visit my blog.
