Are Norwalk Juicers Worth the Money?

April 08, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 466

If you want to buy a juicer, you should buy the most popular machine in the market today, the Norwalk Juicer. Even today, the Norwalk juicing machine is well-known and works very differently from other ones. However, the catch about this juicer is its price. A Norwalk Juicer costs much more than your average electronic juicer, but is it worth the cost? Read on to find the answer to this question:

  • The Process - Before doing anything else, it is important that you know the basics of how the Norwalk juicer works. This juicer uses a two-step process that involves pushing the fruits or vegetables into a shaft. A special pusher is used to do this. Once the produce is pushed inside, a cutter grinder known as a 'vortex tritulator' grinds it to a juice. Any small pulp that is left over from the grinding process is filtered out and caught in a cloth bag. This cloth bag is then placed on a hydraulic press. A small knob activates this press, which places around 2,000 pounds of pressure and extracts juice from it.
  • Cleaning up - A Norwalk Juicer is quite easy to clean because the parts used are small and easy to remove and put back. It also helps that the cleanable parts are made of stainless steel, so you can wash them without worrying about rusting. The parts to be cleaned include the juice tray, cutter, housing shaft, feed tray, pusher, grid holder, grid, and filter bags. The cloth bags take some time to clean, but it is a minor hassle at worst.
  • Weight - This is one big drawback of the Norwalk Juicer. At around 58 pounds, this juicer is one of the heaviest in the market today. This makes it a headache to move around, and is more or less a permanent fixture on your kitchen counter. If you are planning to keep the juicer in one place, however, it is not a problem.
  • Performance - The Norwalk Juicer is popular because of its ability to grind even the toughest produce, so performance is not an issue for this machine in any way. Cheap juicers under a hundred dollars cannot handle as high a range of fruits and vegetables as the Norwalk Juicer. Moreover, this particular juicer can also handle small fruits like oranges, citrus, berries, and other juicy fruits. However, greens and wheatgrass can cause a bit of a problem for the juicer. This can be taken care of by using the large hole screen on the juicer. The juicer also has some of the highest juice yields among its competitors because of its two-step process. Around half of the juice is extracted by the grinding part, while the rest is squeezed out by the hydraulic press.
  • Durability - There are several stories about Norwalk Juicers being passed on from generation to generation, so durability is definitely not a problem. There are very few moving parts in the machine, so burnout issues are quite rare. If you use this juicer right, it can last well over a few decades.

Overall, after reading some Norwalk Juicers Reviews, you will learn this machine is quite capable and reliable, with the only problems being its weight and high price. Despite that, it is stated to be one of the best rated juicers. This juice extractor is best for those who are serious about their juice and want a machine that can last a long, long time.
