How to Build Credibility to Get More Clients

June 13, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 198

Whether you are new to coaching or consulting or have been in business awhile, credibility is a crucial factor to getting new clients. Here are 5 methods to increase it. 1) Testimonials, 2) Why You?, 3) write articles and blog posts, 4) Guest blogging, and 5) eBooks and short reports.

Even if you are new to coaching or consulting, you can get testimonials by offering free services to several people just for the purpose of getting good testimonials. Testimonials are one way to ensure that you are credible.

And don't wait till someone is done working with you to ask for a testimonial. When a client has a breakthrough or a success, ask them right then and there for a quick testimonial.

Why You?

You need to always be answering this question with everything you write and everything you say. Keeping the focus on the results your clients obtain through working with you raises your credibility. As you send out emails and newsletters, occasionally include some testimonials so that you answer "Why You?" to your potential clients.

Write Articles and Blog Posts

A great way to build credibility is to write either short, 400 - 600 word articles and/or blog posts. By writing about your niche topic, you quickly expand your credibility. When prospective clients see these articles or blog posts and start to read through them, your credibility shines through. And it's better to be consistent and to write several times each week to keep up the flow of fresh information for your potential clients.

Guest Blogging

This is one of my favorite ways to reach new audiences and build my credibility. You can ask other entrepreneurs you know if you could write an article for their newsletter or a post for their blog. You can also approach new contacts. Sometimes they will have instructions on their website. If they don't, drop them an email and ask if they would be interested in you writing a post for them and you can also ask if they would like to write a blog post for you. Not only are you building "link love" for Google, but you are getting your expertise noticed by a new audience who may be interested in you and your services.

eBooks and Short Reports

Writing 8 - 15 page eBooks or 4 - 7 page short reports are another credibility method. By writing about a topic that you address through your coaching or consulting, you showcase your expertise. Let's say you are a health coach. You could do a free eBook on diabetes, where you would include what to eat and what to ask your doctor, and send it out to your list. You can also use your short report when you are out networking. Ask someone, at the end of the conversation, if you could get their business card because you'd love to send them you new special report.

These 5 core elements will help build your credibility. They work both offline and online so that more people will be interested in what you have to offer.
