Will My Family Enjoy Living in a Condo?

May 07, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 122

There really is no type of person who cannot live in a condo. While the condo lifestyle may not be for everyone, you do not need to be a young professional or retiree, for example, to live in one. And even families can find a lot to like about living in a condo. Families in condos? That is right. Check out the following list to determine if condo living might be a good fit for your family.

So happy together You enjoy being around one another, right? That is important. Condos often are less spacious than single-family homes, so it is helpful if being in close proximity to one another will not bother you.

No yard of your own Do your kids get home from school every day and want to play baseball in the yard? Does your wife love gardening? Can your husband live without mowing the lawn? If having a yard of your own is a prerequisite, then living in a condo may not be the best idea.

Time for one another Do you enjoy hanging out with your kids? And vice versa? Do you enjoy taking family trips? If the answers to those questions are yes, then a condo may be a good idea. Since someone else handles things like mowing the lawn and raking the leaves, you will have more time to spend together.

The right neighbors When you live in a condo, you share at least one wall, and maybe more, with your neighbors. See who they are before you sign on the dotted line. If you have kids, a condo where all your neighbors are retired may not be the best idea. On the other hand, if your condo building has a bunch of kids, your children may meet friends they will become especially close with.

Schools While the schools around the condo may not add to your enjoyment, per se, they are an important consideration. That is especially true if you have young children who have years of school left to attend. In addition to the quality of education they will receive, consider location. Is there a school bus route that will pick them up in the morning, or will you have to drive them? And how close is the school to your condo? If you will have to spend a considerable amount of time every day bringing your kids to and from school, you may want to keep looking.
