What Are Your Expectations In Your Marriage?

April 21, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 196

Marriage is a great and wonderful institution. It is so good to hear of couples who have stayed happily married for many years. There are couples who have celebrated 40 years, 50 years, or even 60 years of marriage. We know that such celebrations did not come easy; but must have taken hard work and dedication. It is true that success in life comes with setting goals, making sacrifices, commitment and working hard. This goes for marriages as well.

It is so important that couples who are considering marriage, really put serious thoughts into it. You should be reminded that it is a great responsibility, and those who enter in must be mature and responsible. It goes without saying that good communication is one of the most vital part of a successful marriage. However, it is unfortunate that there are couples who have not learned how to master the art of communication; therefore their marriage suffer for lack of communication.

It would seem that when couples are 'in love' they tend to overlook many issues that would eventually come back to affect them in their marriage. You should remember that you are responsible for your part is the marriage. You must be true to yourself, and to your partner. You are the only one who knows your feelings, so do not hide your true feelings. Talk about them; if you don't talk about them they may come back to haunt you later on in your marriage. You should not wait until you get married to share your fears and concerns. Talk about them now. If you feel that you need help to deal with issues or solve problems before you get married, do so before you get married. It may be too late after you get married. Frankly, it is really much harder to deal with issues once you get married with them. Many marriages would be saved if some couples were true to themselves, and to their partners. The key here is to talk, talk, talk. The more you talk the more you will know. Keep asking questions until you get answers. If you have a 'gut' feeling about something in the relationship, check it out. You must feel comfortable with the relationship before you proceed to marriage.

There should be clearly defined expectations before you agree to get married. Too many couples are getting married without having clear defined expectations for each other, or for their marriage. Therefore, after they are married they try to figure it out, and most times this is where problems begin. You have to share your desires, your dreams, and aspirations with your partner so that you can get the support you need. By sharing your feelings and desires with your partner you will get a better understanding of each other. This will give you a greater advantage for having a healthier, happier, successful marriage.

You are the only one that knows yourself, so you must decide on your happiness in life. When you decide to get into a relationship with someone you must be sure that it is beneficial to you. If you are in a relationship and you are not comfortable with something you need to talk about it with the other person. This is especially true when you are choosing a life partner. Do not forget that marriage is for life; so you need to lay a solid foundation from the beginning. Talk, talk, talk until you get the answers you need to help you succeed in your relationships.
