Should You Tell Him About Your Past?

February 18, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 376

So you have met this amazing new guy and he is everything you could have imagined. You two have finally made it to the sharing stage of the relationship and now you have anxiety. You are terrified because it's time to share the special and not-so-special moments of your past life so no secrets remain between you two. Your conscience is knocking at your heart's door telling you to tell him about all your raunchy escapades-before they come back to haunt you.

I know this can be frustrating because you don't want to risk making him afraid to trust you and you definitely don't want him to slap you the with "S" card along with the deuces. So you ask yourself should you tell him or not? That is the question.

No one wants to go inside their little "box of secrets" and pull out all the things that could possibly taint their image in their new beau's eyes. I know, because I have a little "box of secrets" too and I vowed to take it with me to the grave. I have long pondered whether my little "box of secrets" would even make it to the grave or would someone find it later and expose me. Who knows?

In most cases I would say honesty is the best policy, because no matter what comes out, it has to be respected-because it's the truth. And people just don't go around challenging the truth. But in this case, I see where the truth is taking you and urge you to run and hide from it. Yes. Run and hide, because this could turn sour very easily. He may begin by asking, "Why are you just now telling me this?" or saying things like, "I thought I knew you." And you definitely don't want that, do you? You don't want all your hard work of even getting to this stage in your relationship to be severed by an insignificant time in your past.

I understand that your intentions to tell him about that one night stand you had with the football team captain back in high school or that drunken night your friends and you had in Vegas when your panties were mysteriously missing the next morning, but you can't, you can't, you can't. You can't chance hurting him or even worse losing him for good. So do yourself a favor and put that box away and leave the past behind you. Just focus on keeping the passion in the things that brought you two together in the first place. You'll thank me later, I know.
