I'm Getting Older And I'm Still Not Married - I Feel Like I'm Running Out Of Time

April 16, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 233

I was surprised to recently read a statistic in the newspaper which indicated that today, there are actually more adult women who are unmarried than who are married. So, it's no wonder that a large number of women feel as though they are running out of time or that their biological clock is ticking. It probably sounds a little sexist to say that there's a lot of competition out there for a husband. But with so many unmarried women, it can begin to feel this way.

I heard from someone who said: "I am approaching 30 years old. I've had serious relationships but I've never been married or engaged. I am starting to feel like an old maid. I am starting to feel as if my time is running out. I'm starting to think that I will never get a husband or a finance. I can't help but notice that many of the guys at my work and school go for much younger women. So I often feel as if I'm already too old or as if I just can't compete. How in the world am I going to find a husband when I'm already an aging woman whose best years might just have passed her by?" I'll try to address these concerns in the following article.

Know That Your Anxiety Is Often Picked Up By Men Who Might Actually Make A Good Husband: As difficult as it might be to hear this, I have to be honest with you. Men are often very direct when they tell me that they can read your anxiety or your desperation from a mile away. And men will sometimes avoid women who have marriage on their mind because they worry that she is only interested in a ring or marriage from any guy who would be interested. You have to be very careful that you don't radiate a sort of marriage radar that men very quickly pick up on. They can sense this, as weird as that sounds. And many of them will discount you because of it.

Also, sometimes things go so well at first and the man is genuinely interested. Things are moving along wonderfully and, because of this, the woman lets down her guard, gets up her hopes, and begins to radiate the commitment and marriage vibe. On the surface there is nothing wrong with this. Everyone wants to find "the one" and spend their lives being happy with that person. But there's a real danger in that becoming the primary thing that a man notices about you. So, you want to make it very clear that it is him that you are interested in - not the ring or the white picket fence. Because, at the end of the day, what you really want is a happy marriage to the right man. Any mismatched couple can get married. But not every one can make it last because they have chosen correctly. You deserve to have the right man and to be happy. So don't settle just because you want to be married at any cost.

Your Ticking Clock May Not Be Rooted In Reality. You Probably Have More Time Than You Think: Some women tell me that it is almost as if they can hear their biological clock ticking. You have to keep this in the proper perspective. People are marrying later in life. They are also starting families later in life. And there are plenty of men that don't want women who are too young for them. There are plenty of men who are looking for a fitting life partner rather than just an arm trophy. I know that it can get discouraging. But always remember the goal. The goal is to marry the right man, not merely just to get married. Being married is not so great if you settle for the wrong person and eventually get divorced.

Understand How To Make The Right Man Commit: Now that I've hopefully driven home the point that you should only worry about the commitment once you've found the right man, know that once you find him, encouraging him commit isn't always as impossible as you might think. There are many good men that are willing to commit under the right circumstances. It's important that you place your focus on making him feel happy rather than making him feel pressured or hurried. Place your focus on making your relationship the best that it can possibly be. Make sure that your bond is very strong. And show him that being with you doesn't mean that he will have to give up what he loves or change who he is. He needs to understand that you want to be with him because you love him and that being committed to you will improve his life rather than slowing or derailing it.

Once you find the right man, if you can make him believe that you aren't trying to limit him, and if you can convince him that having you in his life makes his life so good that he wouldn't ever want to be without you, then you will likely eventually get your commitment. They key is to make him want to very willingly commit and to make it seem like it was his idea. If you want tips and advice on how to Source: EzineArticles
