I Want For The Man I Love To Give Me A Ring To Show His Commitment - How Can I Make This Happen?

April 17, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 177

It's common for me to hear from women who have one primary goal in mind - to get the man who they have been dating (and love deeply) to finally commit to them with that prized trinket, the ring. Now, the significance of the ring can differ. Some want the engagement ring. Some are OK with a promise ring. And others just want some finger jewelry to show some commitment. And it still amazes me how many women have a very specific ring in mind. Often, they can describe it perfectly. (And they have often done this with the man in question present.)

I heard from a woman who said: "we've been together for just over a year. I know my man loves me, but he's yet to give me a ring. He knows that I want one. And he says that I will get one eventually. But I am tried of waiting. I'm tired of seeing all my friends wearing one while I feel like an old maid. I want him to put that ring on my finger so that I know that he's mine forever. What can I do to make him come around?"

Believe me when I say that I completely understand these feelings. I would be lying if I were to tell you that most women don't think about the ring as soon as they realize that they are in love. There's nothing wrong with wanting him to commit to you with a physical and tangible symbol of his love. But, please understand that there is a danger in thinking that you want to "make him" or "get him" to give it to you. Because this implies a degree or manipulation and control. And men hate it when the woman that they love tries to manipulate and control them. It often reminds them of their mother and so, needless to say, it can be a total turn off, which is obviously the last thing you want when you love this man and you want him to marry you. So, in the following article, I'll offer some tips on trying to nudge him to genuinely wanting to give you a ring in a very positive way.

Be The Woman He Wants To Spend The Rest Of His Life With: I'll be honest. Sometimes, when a woman thinks of spending the rest of her life with it man, this thought makes her feel very secure and special. However, if you take that same thought and apply it to a man, it can make him a feel a little pressured and claustrophobic. That are many social factors that contribute to this. But for right now, just know that this difference in thinking exists. And know that men are very sensitive about women who try to control them.

Men want to commit to women who support them, who are patient, and who understand, appreciate, and love them despite any flaws. He wants to feel as if he doesn't need to hide his true self or his true feelings from you. Because if he feels this way, he will often start to pull away. So instead of becoming that impatient, scheming woman who all men are afraid of, instead become the supportive, understanding and easy going woman who makes him feel so good about himself that he wants to be with you all of the time.

Place Your Focus On Giving Rather Than On Getting: As I've already alluded to, if he feels as though you are only looking to get something from him, he is going to instinctively pull away. Men do not like woman who they think is all about material things or what they can give to her. So, to turn his focus away from this or to alleviate his worries, focus on what you can give to him rather than what you are expecting to get. I do not mean material things when I say this. I mean give him your attention. Give him your support. Give him your understanding. And make it clear that you are not doing it expecting anything material in return.

Do Not Think Of This Process In Terms Of Making Him Do Anything: When you say that you want to "make" someone do something, this implies that you are trying to get them to do something that might be against their will or to do something that wasn't their idea in the first place. You don't want to think about the man who you love this way. If you must think of it in those kinds of terms, think of it as gently encouraging him rather than "making" him. Because once you think in terms of making him give you that ring, you run a risk of changing the dynamics of your relationship. And typically women do this when things are going well. Don't make this mistake. If things are going well, then make sure that they continue to go well. Encourage him to want to be with you all of the time by being the kind of partner that you yourself would want. Make sure he knows that you are doing this because you love him, but not because you demand anything in return.

If you continue to make sure that your relationship is a healthy and happy one, if you can make him believe that you aren't trying to limit him, and if you can convince him that having you in his life makes his life so good that he wouldn't ever want to be without you, then you will likely eventually get your commitment. They key is to make him want to very willingly commit and to make it seem like it was his idea.
