Gourmet Coffee Regions Around The World!

February 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 136

Finding the perfect gourmet coffee, may be a simple matter of finding your favorite gourmet coffee region. The different regions of the world offer coffee that has different tastes and interesting notes to the palate. Searching the many regions and trying new coffee may be the key to finding the best cup of gourmet coffee ever!

The first region where many different coffees come from is Arabia and Africa. A few coffees from this region include: Ethiopian, Kenya, Tanzania & Yemen. This region is known for sweet-flavored coffees that have a tart acidity. They are described as sparkling, and often also contain delicious fruity aromas. The coffees from this region are popular all over the world, and can be easily found at many coffee retailers and purveyors.

The next regions of coffees come from Asia, Indonesia and the Pacific. A few of the coffees that region provides are: Hawaiian Kona, Jamaican Blue Mountain, Sumatra, Java, and Timor. These coffees are said to be some of the best in the world. Kona & Jamaican Blue Mountain are two of my favorites. The Jamaican Blue Mountain is such a sought after coffee that is also called "Black Gold". These coffees are known for lower acidity, rich earthy elements and are typically full-bodied. These are also quite smooth and are perfect for drinking any time of day, or any season.

When speaking of popular coffee regions we also have to remember The Americas. This is some of the most popular and readily available coffee and features the following: Columbia Supremo, Guatemalan, Nicaraguan, Brazilian Bourbon Santos and many more. This region of beans are known for being more light bodied. These are typically roasted light to medium body and are just a tad bit sweet. They are also known for their lively and peppy acidity levels.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many different countries that grow coffee it is hard to pick just one. Personally, I love to try different regions for different season and times of day. I prefer to drink a rich medium to dark roast in the mornings and in winter, while I prefer a light or medium roast in the afternoon and warmer months. It all depends on what your palate likes, and of course what your pocketbook can afford. Some gourmet coffees can get quite expensive, so finding the balance between taste preferences and your budget it key to happy drinking!
