Professional Carpet Cleaning VS The DIY Option

February 22, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 126

Getting your carpets cleaned by a professional carpet cleaning service may seem like a hassle because of all of the various DIY (Do it Yourself) techniques that are in the market today, but there really is no comparison when you look at the bigger picture of what has to get done. Local facilities will offer you to rent out a portable carpet cleaning machine for around $40 and purchase the proper chemicals for an additional $20, which may seem like a money saver compared to having a carpet cleaning company come out and charge you for a professional clean, but there are many key differences you must consider.

Doing it Yourself requires the research to get the right equipment and products for your particular carpets and upholstery that will not damage the fibers or cause any types of discoloration. Then begins the painful process of reading instructions and figuring out how to work the machine. Then, adding the correct amount of chemicals to the machine so you can start attempting to clean the carpet. Very small amounts of dirt might not be any problem, but high traffic areas and stains are no match to any portable carpet cleaning products.

The main problem with those store rental carpet cleaning machines is the temperature of the water. Unlike a truck mounted machine which can heat water temps to 250 degrees or more, the smaller machines are designed for safety, and cannot come close to those temperatures to ensure that the device doesn't overheat.

Also, the vacuum pressure of a portable machine does not have the power to suck up dirt from anything more than the surface area of a carpet. It may look like your carpets are being cleaned with the portable machine, but looks can be very deceiving. A portable machine will not go beyond soaking the carpets and drying them out. What happens as a result is a carpet will look clean for a few days, but then the stains will begin to form again as the dirt from the padding starts to pull back up. This results in the cheaper option of a portable machine becoming more expensive due to the fact that you have to do this process repeatedly over and over again. A truck mount machine, however, can suck up dirt and stains from even in the padding of the carpet, leaving a completely spotless, dirt free environment that will remain in this condition.

Another thing to remember is that the chemicals used to professionally clean your carpet are a much better grade than the store bought cleaners. Store bought cleaners are basically diluted versions of the professional grade carpet cleaners. Using industrial strength cleaners are strictly used by professional Carpet Cleaners because there are very specific applications and instructions which will ensure cleanliness without causing any permanent damage or stains. It is not a very known fact, but putting the wrong chemicals on certain stains can actually cause a stain to settle into the carpet fibers making it impossible to remove even after hiring a professional crew, so keep that in mind before you even consider the DIY options. Professional companies will still remove these stains as well, but it will require them to cut out sections of the carpet and padding, and replace as necessary, almost doubling the cost of the project had you just hired them in the first place.

When considering your carpet needs, companies such as Beach and Beyond carpet care are great options in quality and fair pricing. They use their truck mounted machines to ensure complete customer satisfaction. For more information, check them out at http://www.BeachandBeyondcarpetcare.com or give them a call at (757) 286-5544
