A future as a medical transcriptionist might sound quite boring especially since most people have never even heard of the field before. In fact, it might sound like it is related to becoming a pharmacist or a technician of some sort. However, this career is quite an interesting job that remains very important to the field of medicine. They are quite intelligent individuals with a thorough understanding of the medical practice which they are working with. This job can be perfect for individuals who are looking for a job in the field without spending a decade in attaining an education. This article aims to show you the many benefits of getting certified to become a medical transcriptionist.

Although you might feel as though it is too late for a change in your career, you might be surprised to learn that in just under 3 years you can be certified to start working with doctors and in hospitals to become a medical transcriptionist. In fact, you might even be surprised to learn that the income we earn is probably a lot higher that what you might believe. For having such a short educational requirement to get into the field, the income is almost unbelievable. The job freedom that you have, combined with the need for individuals in this field make is a very attractive position to focus on.

Individuals working in this position can work on the side after coming home from their full-time job and almost double their regular salary. In fact, my sister has been performing this job for various practices and spent some time teaching as well and was earning close to $100k. Of course, she was quite good at what she did and had built a bit of a clientele list, but it just goes to show that you don't need to be a doctor to earn a great living in the field of medicine. She is also very knowledgeable about anatomy, biology, and medicine after just a few years of working with doctors and hospitals.

So what does a medical transcriptionist do? Although this is out of the scope of this article, a brief description of the job is that the individual is responsible for taking written or spoken records or notes created by the physician and turns them into longer records or reports to keep on file. In essence, a physician will take short hand notes by hand or using a recording device so that they can see more patients in a given day and uses the services of a medical transcriptionist to turn those notes in a longer and more thorough set of records so that they can be used in the future. Without a medical transcriptionist, doctors and physicians would not have the ability to practice on the number of patients that they do each and every day.

Among the career paths which Lara has taken, she still maintains a steady income level by working on the side as a Medical Transcriptionist. She has spent the last 5 years building a steady customer base and enjoys teaching people how to earn a steady Medical transcriptionist salary to subsidize their full-time income.
