Things That You May Not Be Aware of With Regards to Car Repairs

April 19, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 134

Not all insurance providers are created just to get money from you; in fact, a majority of them do mean well in crafting policies that are fair to the paying planholder. However, it sure can be to your advantage to take note of how your policy is actually being carried out. One of these "gray areas" almost always have to do with car repairs.

Here's one thing that you're certainly aware of: car repairs are very costly. However, that doesn't include the fact that there will always be some chances that you may acquire other "extraneous" costs in the process.

For example, there's a chance that you may rent a car for a few days in the event that your car is still stuck inside the garage of a repair shop. While your insurance provider may offer an optional car rental policy, you may find out then that the premium will only cover a specific body of a car, such as a compact, for instance. But what if you need to rent, for whatever reason, a sedan or a SUV? Of course your policy won't cover the extra charges for it because you have a "different" plan; hence, you have to make sure that you are indeed reading between the lines prior to accepting the policy that's handed to you.

What about the actual repairs? Here's also a lesser known secret that folks like us rarely even know: not all repair shops can properly fix your car. This little nugget can be especially helpful, since it can better prepare you for what to expect when your insurance provider refers you to their "licensed" service station. Ever wonder why there are so many repair stations for each brand of car there is? It's really simple-not all service stations carry the "spare part" that your car needs to be properly fixed.

Here's a neat analogy-if your car was branded as being "made in Japan", does it make sense for you to follow the instructions of your provider and bring your car to one which only services homegrown American brands? Just try bringing your car to a service center which you know houses the "authentic" parts needed to fix your car; your insurance provider may likely cover for it as long as you have the receipts.

How about if your car has an unfortunate case of the "fender bender"? No matter whose fault it may be, having a dent in your car can be enough to cause you headaches. Typically, some insurance providers only cover about $500 worth on fixing the damage. However, as evidenced by recent surveys on the subject, drivers are expected to shell out between $980 to $1300-more than double the cost of what your provider is expected to cover! It's a little food for thought for anyone expecting to pay a minimal cost for repairs.

Be smart in looking for the best auto insurance policy-it's the best thing that you may do all summer.
