Where to Live in Blythewood - New Home Construction Neighborhoods

April 09, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 114

Blythewood, South Carolina is a suburban area of Columbia about 10 miles north on Interstate 77 toward Charlotte. It has earned the reputation of class, community, and rapid growth. Yet, community members still remain hesitant to new subdivisions and non traditional growth. Even with this resistance, new Blythewood neighborhoods have wedged their "foot in the door" and are meeting the demand for Columbia residents relocating from outside the city. Newcomers are discovering Blythewood as a low key, country-like atmosphere. Some of the "new" neighborhoods were previously approved by local developers and have been taken over by national homebuilders. Though some long term residents may not like the change, but it has become necessary and the incoming developers have produced a great product.

Historically, Blythewood neighborhoods have been comprised of large lots and custom homes. For example: in Lake Ashley, Longcreek Plantation, and Surreywood, the lot size of 2 acres is very common. But with a change in the market, new neighborhoods in Blythewood have smaller lot sizes and homes have converted from custom homes to tract-built homes. The end result of building an identical floor plan over and over again brings a perfected and low-cost product. This process has spawned an influx of potential buyers from all over Columbia...and the world. Fort Jackson, the University of South Carolina, and The State House, which acts as a home base for SC politicians, heavily support Columbia's economy.

Being that there is a high demand for homes for sale in Blythewood and a resistance of growth. You may be asking yourself a common question of "Where to live in Blythewood SC?" Well, believe it or not, there are actually many choices of new home communities in Blythewood.

For new 4-5 bedroom homes in Blythewood (with an excess of 2500 square feet) you may want to search in search in Ashley Oaks, Deer Creek, The View and/or Lincrest. These neighborhoods are spread out across Blythewood and you should be able to find the convenience of location in any of these subdivisions.

For homes slightly smaller, you may want to search in Cobblestone Park, Blythecreek, Willow Lake, and Brookhaven. These neighborhoods are also spread out across, and beyond, the Town of Blythewood. Most of these are vinyl sided homes around 2200 SF.

If you are looking for golf course homes for sale in Blythewood, you may want to look in Longcreek Plantation, Crickentree and Cobblestone Park. These neighborhoods are mainly brick, stucco, hardi-plank, and wood sided homes. There are no vinyl sided homes for sale in these neighborhoods (at least that I am aware of) and there are new phases of development in every subdivision. But don't depend on an article to give you a feeling of the type and styles of homes. Contact a local Blythewood real estate agent to lead you in the right direction.
