Getting the Results That You Want From P90X Training

If you watch TV you have probably seen the P90X infomercial. It's all about the P90X workout system created by trainer Tony Horton. Horton has adapted some ordinary workouts into a spectacular system that gets you great results in far less time than you might imagine.

These workouts are intense and your body begins to burn more calories every day. Your metabolism increases and your body changes into a calorie burning machine, even while you sleep.

It is true, your body can burn a lot of calories even while you sleep. Muscles develop and because you are working them at an intense level your body needs to burn extra calories to build them up. P90X is an integrated system of exercises that complement each other and always give you a different movement for your body. Your body never fully adapts to the movement and as a result you cannot plateau, or reach a state where the results stop as they do in ordinary programs.

Many people don't fully understand fitness. Fitness is not just body building where you isolate muscles to build them. Horton has incorporated elements of body building but he has combined it with yoga, Kempo karate, plyometrics, and many other forms of development to make a program that is bigger than the sum of it's parts.

Studies show that when you workout and engage all of your muscle groups you will burn twice as many calories in less time than engaging in any other kind of program. This is what P90X does, it is a whole body program about building a sexy, beach ready body, that is always burning calories, and always active. It is masterful how Horton targets major muscle groups while keeping the entire body involved and working.

P90X workouts while challenging are not difficult. They are designed so that anyone can pick them up. In fact Horton says, "do what you can." This is the best advice. Follow along and do the movements the best that you can, if they become too much for you take a break or modify the movement, but always keep trying. Soon you will find that you do more and more and can complete the routines. The program is progressively building you up allowing you to move into the next phase as you grow stronger over time.

Each of the phases fits on top of the one before and is more challenging. Your body will not fully adapt to the movement and so you will not plateau, you will continue to grow stronger and lose weight.
