Top Five Boxing Fights of 2011

Last December 23, 2011 featured two great boxing warriors in the boxing ring. The fight was held at Bangkok, Thailand. Kompayak Porpramook and Adrian Hernandez clashed in a light flyweight 108 pounds division. Porpramook defeated Hernandez on the 10th round via KO.

Next in line would be the spectacular fight between Jorge Paez Jr. and Omar Chavez, which was held last December 17, 2011 at Mexico. Both of them are known to be the sons of the two great boxers in their time; Omar Chavez who is 21 years old by that time, is the youngest son of Julio Cesar Chavez and Jorge Paez Jr. who is 24 by then, if the son of the former WBO and IBF featherweight champion Jorge Paez. The figures are showing that both Paez and Chavez are indeed young, however they showcased professionalism inside and outside the ring. They showed people that they deserve for the title. The fight division was welterweight 147 pounds. At the end of the fight, it was a majority decision Jeorge Paez Jr., defeated Omar Chavez.

In the vacant WBC light middleweight title, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, won over Matthew Hatton, it was held at Honda Center Anaheim, CA, USA., last march 05, 2011. These two fighters showed their abilities and skills in the field of boxing, Hatton did not give up, even if Alvarez won in every round. The fight was ended with a unanimous decision; Saul Alvarez got the title and won over Matthew Hatton.

One of the most exciting fights last 2011, was the fight between Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios and Miguel Acosta, happened last February 26, 2011 at Palms Casino Resort at Las Vegas, Nevada. Miguel, who is by that moment is the holder of the WBA World lightweight title, wherein he got last 2009 against Urbano Antillon and remained with him that title, when he defeated Paulus Moses last 2010; both of which is via KO. People thought that Acosta will still defend the title, but to everyone's surprise, Bam Bam Rios knocked Acosta down, for the first time at the sixth round, however, Acosta still managed to finish the round. When the eighth and tenth rounds came, Bam Bam worked really hard to put Acosta down. Rios was able to get the title; he won over Acosta on the tenth round via TKO.

Lastly, for the second time, a fight between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito drawn thousands of people at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY. Last December 23, 2011 Cotto defeated Margarito and won the title, WBA Super World light middleweight in 154 pounds division via TKO on the tenth round.

Truly, the boxing history is very dynamic. Predictions and assumptions of the boxing experts are just guides, because at the end, the one who will prevail is the man who will bring home the title. Changes will most likely to occur in every round of the fight, and that is the reason why boxing fans are seeking into details of the fight.
