Boxing Is Great for Kids

April 19, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 182

Many parents these days are trying to keep their kids away from violence, so it is understandable why they wouldn't want their kids learning how to box. However, with the right coach, boxing can do a lot more than just teach a child how to fight. As a matter of fact, it could be just what a kid needs to improve many areas of his or her life including those listed below.

Improved health

Children, who get into boxing, will get a great workout from it. Their cardio will improve and they will build muscle. A good boxing gym or coach will also teach them proper breathing which will improve oxygen and blood flow. These workouts will help the child going strong in many areas of his or her life.

Besides a great workout, many good boxing instructors will perch about the importance of a healthy diet. A student who loves boxing will take this to heart and hopefully eat better. It might not sound likely, but I have seen kids that never eat healthily in their life start doing so for the love of a sport.

Builds confidence

Not only will children look and feel healthier, but knowing that they are will make them more confident. They will be less shy with new people and situations. They will try more new things and hopefully be more successful in life. They might even be less likely to fight, knowing that they seriously hurt someone. There is a good chance that they will be bullied less just because of their confidence in themselves.

A good outlet for venting

Kids who are already being bullied or have rage problems will find boxing and any other type of fighting art very beneficial, providing they have the right teacher. The workouts and the drills will tire them out. Drill on the punching bag or with the punching mitts will help them get rid of their anger. However, the best coaches will take it a step further by lending their ear whenever a child feels they need to talk, which sometimes come easier after a good workout, when they have vented a lot of their frustrations.

Good foundation for better living

Finally, much of what a child learns from boxing can be used to form good habits in their everyday lives. They will have healthy eating habits, their confidence will continue to grow, they will have a better view on life, and have a strong work ethic. All this could lead to a successful future for any child.
