Boxing for Health at Home

April 19, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 178

People are always looking for the newest miracle diet or the next trending workout routine to lose weight. But all people really need is a healthy diet and a practical workout plan. This is where boxing may be of some help. A home boxing routine is a practical solution for many reasons including the ones listed below.

No bruises

Since most people are doing this just to lose weight there is no need to spar other people. There is also no need to do many of the conditioning drills that could leave bruises and other injuries. However, a person doing a boxing home workout still may gain some of the self defense skills he or she may get from classes.

Good cardio

Boxing workouts are great for cardio. They are usually fast pace workouts that raise the heart rate to a fat burning speed. These workouts usually involve breathing techniques, which help improve all systems in the body and assist in fat burning. A single person can expect to burn between 300-800 calories an hour with these workouts.

Simple

They are very simple to do and information can easily be found online, in books, ebooks, or in the form of DVDs. They can start off very easy and be made harder as one's fitness level improves. These types of workouts don't require any difficult equipment and can be done right at home. It's a great way for a beginner to start losing weight.

Cheap

Boxing drills and routines can be done with little to no equipment. For a person just starting out, using no equipment is just fine. He or she will burn plenty of calories just from the cardio involved. As a person becomes more advanced, he or she might want to invest in some inexpensive boxing equipment like a jump rope, weighted boxing gloves, and a medicine ball. All in which, can be bought for a 100 to 200 dollars.

It works

Boxers are fit for a reason, it's because their workouts do what it is supposed to do. Boxing routines build muscle, increase endurance and shed pounds. It gets the blood flowing and if done right, it will also increase oxygen to muscles and vital organs.

A few pointers

There is more to boxing then just punches, so make sure to do a lot of research. More pacifically, research the proper breathing techniques. This will greatly improve the quality of your workout. My second bit of advice is learn how to properly stretch. Muscle pulls and other similar injuries can be avoided by keeping the body loose. At the end of the day boxing workouts are still one of the best workouts for beginners and the more fit alike.
