Bowling: From Fun With Your Friends to Serious Games

August 04, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 169

There are only a select few sports that a person can participate in regardless of the weather brought on by the season. The most popular is bowling. Bowling is such a popular sport because of the fact that a person can play it in rain or shine, whether it's negative fifteen degrees or one hundred and five degrees, or whether it's night or day. Not only can a person bowl regardless of weather conditions, but bowling is also a sport for anyone. No matter what socioeconomic class a person comes from, no matter what gender a person is, or even how old a person is, bowling is a fun sport that all can enjoy.

Bowling in itself is a very simple game, a person has a large ball, from six to sixteen pounds, and his or her only goal is to knock down as many bowling pins as possible. There are ten pins, ten frames, and a person can get a maximum score of three hundred. Scoring is a little tricky, with strikes and spares being weighted in a person's score, but now, in every modern bowling alley, there is a computer that takes care of the scoring for the bowler. Bowling is a game with a small learning curve...anybody can pick up a bowling ball and start to play, but to master the game, it takes dedication and persistence.

Not only is bowling a fun activity, but it is also an affordable activity. Whether a person is taking his or her entire family bowling, or whether a person is meeting friends, a night of bowling is often much cheaper than going to the movies or a bar. Buying equipment can be expensive, but people often don't buy equipment until they are ready to commit to becoming a competitive bowler. Another good thing about bowling is the fact that all of the equipment a person can need is either borrowable or rentable. Bowling alleys always have "house balls" available for public use, and people can rent shoes and even borrow gloves from the bowling alley staff.

Bowling is a great American pastime for a good reason, anybody can play, it is a reasonably priced activity, and a person can play regardless of how bad the conditions are outside. Bowling has been growing in popularity for years, and the sport shows no signs of slowing down. Bowling has been bringing family and friends together for decades, and it remains one of the best indoor activities for people to just get together and have a good time.
