A Primer On Bowling Equipment For Beginners

July 17, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 168

Whether a first time bowler or a professional, purchasing and using one's own equipment can be a great way to improve one's game. Most people simply go to a bowling alley, pick a random house ball, and bowl, regardless of the condition of the equipment. While a bowler that only bowls once every year can get away with this, if a person is seriously considering bowling as a hobby or pastime, nothing beats having equipment custom tailored to an individual's needs.

What should a bowler who has no equipment pick up? There are a a variety of items a bowler can use to improve his or her game. Bowling balls, gloves, shoes, polishes, etc can all be used to improve a person's bowling game. Bowling equipment can be a bit pricey, depending on what kind of equipment a person is using, but having the proper equipment can often improve a bowler's game almost immediately.

It is recommended that any bowler that bowls quite frequently should invest in his or her own custom bowling ball. A custom fitted ball is one of the easiest way to dramatically improve one's game. House balls are inconsistently waxed, can have imperfections, and are a bit uncontrollable depending on lane conditions. A custom fitted bowling ball, however, provides a level of consistency unobtainable by a house ball. A person can get a ball in a variety of weights, finishes, textures, and polishes. Having one's own bowling ball means that there will be consistency from game to game because the characteristics of the ball will not change from game to game as people cycle through their choices of house balls.

In addition to bowling balls, gloves and shoes are accessories that every bowler should have. A proper bowling glove will typically have a brace built to protect one's wrist, as well as finger braces to help maintain proper form. The wrist support can definitely help a bowler, especially if there is a previous injury that could be aggravated by heavy lifting. Bowling gloves help a person maintain proper form, and allow a person to bowl without worrying about hurting their wrist even more. In addition to bowling gloves, bowling shoes are also important. Bowling shoes all have different characteristics, and owning a pair of bowling shoes will allow a person to develop a consistent release, increasing his or her score significantly. Every piece of equipment purchased helps a bowler's game, and the pieces listed here are no exception to the rule.
