How Marketing Services Are Stealing Your Time and Money!

April 05, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 123

Marketing services are stealing your time and money with promises of more tools and ways to drive more business.

You have worked hard and invested heavily to get your business up and running and it looks like things are going well but you hear every day that you have to have an Internet presence to succeed in today's competitive environment. So you look around on the Internet, ask a few friends and walla you find a company that talks about providing great web presence with a fantastic looking web site. $2,000.00 later you have this beautiful web site, but no one knows how to find it. You look for more help to get your site found. "Bam", another $1,000.00 for an SEO expert who promises all kinds of technical jargon that simply means he will make your site more searchable for all the search engines. Still few people find your site. Then as you become more frustrated that you have invested a lot of money that has not brought in nearly enough business to make this whole process worthwhile, you stumble on a service that offers all the tools and the training to do it yourself. "hey maybe this is the way to go". Surely you can do a better job since you know your business better than anyone, right? NOT!! You need to stop right there. You need to do what you do best and stop trying to figure out this complicated new technology, The Internet.

Orville Rickenbacker said it best "Do one thing and do it better than anyone else".

While it is true, you do need to have an effective Internet presence, you have to realize your already wearing many hats in running your business and unless you have lot's of money to hire specialized employees and put sophisticated technology in place this is an area you should avoid personally. If you boil it down to the absolute bottom line it's not pretty web sites or fancy programming, it's that you want more customers who visit your business and buy your products and services. You want them to become loyal customers who come back again and again. You don't want to have to discount your products and services to bribe consumers to visit you. You simply want more quality customers that will grow your business.

Now I know I am stating some pretty simple facts and you are probably thinking "yea, so what is the solution?" Believe it or not the solution is just as simple as the problem. You more than likely have been spending money on traditional advertising, which has not been very effective, (yellow pages, newspapers, coupons) and you need to discontinue that as well. It's like throwing money in the street, you might even get better response if you did just that. The solution we recommend is to keep the cash you have and use it in areas that are far more important like buying more inventory, hiring new employees and growing your business. Look for services that offer "pay for results". These are companies that put their money were their mouth is and offer services that can bring in more business and you only pay for a successful action like a new lead, a paying customer or a repeat customer. By utilizing these types of services your ROI is easy to determine and your dollars are easy to track. Many of these services offer data mining too and that provides new sources to re-market and get even more business.
