Olhausen Pool Tables: Selection Is Everything

January 27, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 133

Still a family owned company, Olhausen pool tables are all about selection. As a matter of fact, it is part of their four main concerns on which they focus their attention: quality, service, value, and selection. These attributes is what have earned them the title of "The Best in Billiards." But what do they mean by "selection" exactly, one might ask. They simply apply that selection concept to every aspect of their tables. You can select among a wide variety of products; they only use a selection of the best materials in the manufacture of their tables.

Olhausen pool tables are divided into over a dozen different series. They have named, without surprise, their top quality series the Select Series. Then, the products in the following series slowly drop down with respect to the materials used for building the table, with the cost dropping accordingly. The reason they do that is not to offer a lesser quality product, but rather to be able to please everybody, from the professional player to the beginner who is looking for a good entry-level table and who, more than likely, is not inclined to paying a fortune for his first table. This is exactly why they offer so many distinct series of Olhausen pool tables. It is in an effort to accommodate everyone; with any budget, skill sets, and style preferences.

The selection trait of the company extends to the lumber they use. Their worldwide status leaves them no other choice but to use only the best hardwood and to process it in a way that makes it suitable for any climate; from the humid southeastern United States to the desert of Saudi Arabia arid weather. One of the secret of their premium hardwood is that they only select "slower growth" trees to be part of the lumber used to make Olhausen pool tables. The advantage of slower grown trees, coming from northeastern United States is that the slower the growth of a tree is, the tighter the wood grains are. That means that the wood is denser and more stable. That exact feature helps with the cutting and gluing process, as well as the sanding and finishing of the products.

By selecting the best woods, one could presume that the prices of the tables would be so high, only the wealthiest clients could afford them. That is the beauty of Olhausen pool tables being so big. They use such a large volume of lumber that not only they get the best woods, but they get it at the best cost; which allows them to produce affordable to a larger public. Their selection of wood includes Red Oak, Maple, Cherry, and Walnut; as well as some exotic imported hardwoods such as African Rosewood, Brazilian Cherry and Genuine Mahogany. Having that huge variety of wood essences allows them to offer a greater range of colors, styles, and most solid tables.

Craig Carter does not have a job related to billiards. He is working as a carpenter, building mostly staircases and ceilings. But, one day, about a decade ago, he decided to build his own pool table as a personal project and the result was that he absolutely fell in love with the games of pool. From then on he decided that he wanted to share that passion with other billiards fans and that the easiest way to achieve that was through the web. Carter writes articles about just any aspect of pool to help his fellow billiards fans to find reliable information as easily as possible.
