Different Pool Games

History Most people view pool games as having stared just in the recent past. However, they can be traced back to the ancient times where they were played by kings and most common people. Billiards, another term that can be used to refer to them, originated from Croquet. This sport was played by in France as early as in the 15th Century. Various people also played it in Northern Europe. It came into being gradually when the croquet shifted platforms and players began playing it indoors. The sport was played by use of sticks on a wooden table with a green cloth layering. The items of play were small balls that were shoved using the wooden sticks instead of being struck as can be seen in the modern version. The first rulebook of the sport was designed 75 years after people had begun playing the sport.

Types of Pool games Today, there are several pool games that most people can take part in for purposes of entertainment and other several gains. It provides a mental challenge to players and is fun to take part in. What is more is that with the different types of versions, one has the choice of which game to play. Here are some of the types:

• Eight ball This is the most common of all the versions of the sport. This is the type that most people play in bars and pool halls. It is designed for two players or two teams of players whereby one party is given seven balls, also known as solids that are low-numbered. The other team is assigned seven stripped balls that are high numbered. The ball labeled number eight that is black in color is the last one to be played after a player pockets the seven balls. However, a player is supposed to tell exactly where he pockets the black ball so that in case he misses, he loses the game.

• One pocket In this type, every player has his or her own pocket to shoot at. The balls that go into the assigned pocket, which is, usually one are the only ones that are considered legal. The first player to pocket his eight balls becomes the winner.

There are other several types of pool games including rotation, nine ball and championship billiards.
