Staying At A Bed and Breakfast In Darwin? Enjoy These Local Attractions

If you are staying at a bed and breakfast in Darwin there are many things to entertain you while on holiday. The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern territory is one place you should make a point of visiting as it will show you the history of the area as well as various exhibitions of Aboriginal, Southeast Asian and Oceanic art. It also houses an installation depicting the terrible Cyclone Tracey that shattered Darwin in 1974.

The Botanic Gardens in Darwin are an excellent place to take a stroll through to escape the tropical heat. There are 42 hectares of garden including a rainforest gully with plenty of palms, a wetland and a coastal zone. The Mindil Beach Sunset Markets are absolutely worth visiting. You can shop for local souvenirs, get a massage, have your palm read, get a Tarot reading and watch the buskers and performing artists. If you are staying at a bed and breakfast in Darwin you can also take part in a sunset cruise on a 1950's pearling lugger sailing ketch, catamaran or cruiser while enjoying a fine drink. There are several cruises available at the harbour in Darwin this opportunity should not be missed.

Myilly Point Heritage Precinct is a collection of older style homes and includes the last existing four pre-WWII houses built in the 1930's. This fascinating place is perfect for an afternoon stroll around. The Deckchair Cinema screens seven nights a week during the dry season and provides an amazing outdoor setting. There are a range of refreshments for you to purchase and enjoy while watching one of the movies that are screening. Aquascene is a great place to go at high tide as the fish swarm the area and you can feed them with bread. This is a great way to see the wildlife and to entertain younger children.

The Australian Pearling Exhibition is an excellent way to learn everything possible about the pearling industry on the Wharf Precinct. Darwin Crocodile Farm is where some 10,000 crocodiles are housed and there are safe sites where you can watch the crocodiles being fed. You can also enjoy the many beautiful native birds surrounding the area if you enjoy bird watching. The Australian Aviation Heritage Centre holds an excellent display of military aircraft, engines and the wreckage of a Japanese Zero fighter. It also holds a B-52 bomber which is one of only two displayed outside the United States.
