Llandudno - Three Must See Attractions

October 07, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 80

Llandudno is a beautiful Victorian seaside town in Conwy County Borough in north Wales. It was specifically built as a holiday destination in the mid-Victorian era for government officials and their families, who were looking for a quiet vacation by the sea. The motto of the town is 'Hardd Hafan Hedd', which is a Welsh phrase meaning 'beautiful haven of peace'. This epithet was given by Queen Elizabeth of Romania, after she was impressed by the serene environment of the town, while on vacation here.

Today, Llandudno has grown to become the largest beach resort in northern Wales, and has numerous apartments, hotels and bed and breakfast boutiques. Below are three of the top tourist attractions in town:

- Bodafon Farm Park: This working farm is located near the Little Orme headland towards the east of Llandudno. If you are a nature lover, then you would like this place as it boasts of a large number of unusual animals and birds. This includes rare breeds of farm livestock, llamas, owls and tropical birds. The Park offers educational tours down its heritage trails, as well as tractor rides, a children's playground and crafts. If you want to grab a bite to eat, try the café or licensed restaurant at the Farm for delicious Welsh cuisine. This restaurant can also be booked for parties and weddings, and offers a great view of the sea.

- Great Orme Country Park: Situated amidst the giant limestone rocks of the Great Orme, the Country Park is spread over 300 hectares of breathtaking natural beauty. In the summers, the Park is covered with vibrant wildflowers, as rare butterflies flutter about collecting pollen. The cliffs of the Country Park are filled with a huge assortment of nesting birds and migratory birds, which include guillemots, razorbills, seagulls, ravens, little owls and peregrine falcons. All in all, the Park has more than 400 historical sites, which include the Copper Mines and St.Tudno's Church. It is open daily, from March to October.

- Great Orme Summit Complex: This group of buildings is located on the top of the Great Orme, and consists of a collection of bars, cafes, restaurants, amusement arcades and gift shops. The Summit Complex was originally a telegraph office, where wireless messages were relayed during the Second World War. This is why you will see two radio masts over the buildings of the Summit Complex. Today, it offers a short refreshment stop for tourists who have travelled up the Great Orme to view the fantastic scenery.

Space Boutique Bed and Breakfast Llandudno is one of the premier hotels Llandudno. This boutique B and B stands out from the crowd with its unique and bespoke furniture, bathrobes and slippers to indulge each guest in luxury.
