Choosing Make-Up to Flatter Your Skin Colour

February 29, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 162

Make-up can be a girl's best friend. It covers up what you do not want to be seen and highlights elements that you want to be noticed for. Before you start to wear make-up you should look at your skin tone and what colours would match well with it.

Depending on the shade of your skin, you can choose different products that will help to blend and match your tone. You can also find colours for blushes, mascara, eye shadow and more to compliment. It can be hard to find out straight away which you suit and do not. However if you can try out a few different looks and get peoples' opinions this will be of great use. You will then be able to find ways of playing up your eyes and lips in tones that specifically suit you.

If you are fair then wearing black eyeliner and mascara can be a bit harsh on some. Wearing a brown or brown/black tone can really help to define your eyes whilst not looking too much. Wearing bright red lipstick for some, who are naturally fair-skinned, can be too bright and look odd. This can depend on what hair colour you have and also the type of person you are. If you have darker hair and wear bright and bold clothing then you can reflect this more easily with your make-up than if you have very light coloured hair. Blusher can be tricky when you are really fair; many shades can stand out and not blend with the skin especially if too much is applied. Trying to find as close to nude or a really natural pink colour will work best.

If you have warm or darker skin then wearing really light coloured eye-shadows and lipsticks will do nothing for your look. Choosing deep, rich colours will bring out your best features and look more natural. When applying blusher you should use a plumb or bronze shade. Depending on your colouring, these will look the most flattering. Because of your colouring black mascara will bring out your naturally black eyelashes, using a few coats will make them pop further and really stand out.

There are a huge number of different shadow shades; far more than I could begin to cover for each skin tone. The best way to determine what you suit is to hold it up to your face or match it to what colour clothes look best on you. Generally for fairer skin, the more natural and earthy tones such as light pinks and greens can look the most flattering. Using deeper colours and shades of browns can look the best for darker skin. Once you find a certain look or colour that you like then the hard part is complete. Once you have determined this you can use it to your advantage by using diverse tones from that same colour palette to create numerous looks and feel comfortable that you look great. You will soon be able to choose colours for your skin tone like a professional.
