Are Dermal Fillers Suitable To Treat Forehead Wrinkles?

April 14, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 243

There are plenty of dermal fillers you can choose from when you are looking to reduce the appearance of forehead wrinkles and other facial wrinkles. These dermal fillers can help to improve the way your skin looks in a relatively short period of time. You will find that dermal fillers will actually help to bring back the overall youthful appearance of your face, giving you a brighter, fresher, more youthful look.

The length of time your result will last can vary, depending on the type and brand of filler chosen. Generally, the thicker, more viscous dermal fillers such as Sculptra and Perlane will last a far longer period of time. Sculptra is only intended for more deep-set wrinkles and facial hollows, so this will not be suitable for everyone. These thicker filler are not normally considered suitable for the forehead area.

Dermal fillers last a finite amount of time under the skin. Gradually the treated wrinkles will reappear after a period of time has lapsed as your body will slowly absorb the filler. While these can be redone as needed, there will of course be an overall cost to maintain your wrinkle-free look. Dermal fillers are introduced into the wrinkles and folds of the skin via injection. The medical practitioner needs to have completed a course in the use of fillers. Of course the more experienced the medical practitioner is at this type of anti-wrinkle treatment, the better the result will be.

Most medical practitioners treating forehead wrinkles will opt for one of the forms of purified botulinum toxin A to treat these wrinkles effectively. This is a prescription drug and in some countries such as Ireland, can only be administered by a doctor. Botox is the most commonly recognised form of this drug. Botox acts on the forehead wrinkles my relaxing the muscles beneath the skin. This smoothes out the skin, resulting in a wrinkle-free appearance.

The general rule of thumb is that dermal fillers are more suitable to treat the wrinkles for the lower half of the face, and Botox is more suitable to treat the wrinkles that appear around the eyes, between the eyebrows and on the forehead. There are exceptions to this, and your cosmetic doctor is the best person to advise you on what anti wrinkle treatment is more suitable to you, taking into consideration your skin type, the depth of your wrinkles, and your age.
