Chicken Rotisseries: Grilled to Perfection in 5 Simple Steps

June 20, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 133

The most succulent and tastiest chicken dishes are prepared in a rotisserie by roasting the chicken evenly and draining away unwanted fat for a sumptuous and nutritious meal in the comfort of your home, among family and friends.

Chicken rotisseries have become so popular because chicken is one of the most versatile meats for creative cooking. It is easy to marinate for cooking as it is capable of absorbing almost any flavors or seasonings with its added property, of having low fat content. If you want to take your cooking style to a new level and test the true versatility of chicken dishes in a multitude of recipes, I strongly advise you to consider investing in a rotisserie oven.

There is a process to rotisserie-roasting chicken with Crispy Skin and Tender Juicy Flesh. Obviously, the first step is investing in a good rotisserie oven and knowing how to use it, by reading the manuals that come with it. Some of the well known models are Ronco Showtime, George Foreman Baby Rotisserie and the Cuisinart Vertical Rotisserie. Two important tips to get a perfectly cooked chicken rotisserie is by using fresh chicken and have it served within 20 to 25 minutes off the grill after resting it for 10 minutes to redistribute the juices. It really does make a difference!

Secondly, it is important to ensure that you get the chicken as secure to the rotisserie rod as possible. In fact, this is the most challenging step to rotisserie cooking and do not forget to secure not just the bird but to tie together its legs and wings. If you have a dangling chicken leg or wing, it will flop around and likely burn. Chicken prepared in a rotisserie is tasty and popular as fast food from your local deli shop or fast food outlet and it is also a simple and a fast way to cook tasty chicken in your home for your loved ones.

The third crucial step to consider is the seasoning to grill the meat to perfection. Marinades, dry rubs or bastes all work well with this versatile meat for creative cooking. One of the unique qualities of rotisserie cooking is that the meat bastes in its own juices and turns out juicy and tender inside and crispy outside. It is advisable when cooking chicken rotisserie style, to marinade the bird for a few hours or better still, overnight to soak in the flavors. If dry rubs need to be used, it is advisable to cut little slits on the skin to create "flavor pockets" throughout the chicken.

Condiments used to make up the seasonings need to have flavor and oil to help hold in the moisture and brown the surface of the chicken. Simple ingredients used in the right proportion like lime juice, rosemary leaves, paprika and cumin will churn out delicious chicken rotisserie. Why pay heavily to restaurants when healthier and more creative chicken dishes can be prepared at home for a fraction of the cost.

The fourth step to observe when rotisserie-roasting chicken is the temperature control. At a cooking temperature of between 300 to 350 degrees F, it will take a chicken around 20 to 30 minutes per pound to cook. As the chicken cooks, you will notice that it tends to plump up and turns to a delicious and mouth watering golden to dark brown in color. Watch out for these signs that indicate that the chicken rotisserie is nearly done to remove it from the grill. Once you take the roast off the rotisserie, cover it loosely with foil to let it rest for 10 minutes to pack in the juices before carving it thinly to serve.

The fifth and final step to roasting juicy and tender chicken with a rotisserie is to drain away the unwanted fat collected at the bottom of the machine. The drip tray catches all the fat and what's left is just a quick and easy wipe-down on the glass door and interior walls of the oven. Other accessories that normally come with a good rotisserie oven are the skewer set and a multi-purpose basket for grilling sausages, fish fillets, Turkish shish kebabs and smaller pieces of vegetables and prawns that might fall out while grilling.

The true versatility of chicken rotisserie can only be expressed in the incredible multitude of recipes that can be cooked up in a rotisserie oven Some of the creative ways to use cooked chicken rotisseries in your cooking recipes are by adding them to pastas, pizzas, salads, soups, or even adding them to your sandwiches if, there are any leftovers.

Ultimately, your imagination is the only limitation when it comes to using the rotisserie oven in your home to dish out sumptuous and healthy food for the family at a fraction of the cost that you would pay should you entertain them in a restaurant.
