Portable Game Pitching Mounds

April 05, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 145

There are plenty of different uses for portable pitching mounds. One of the main uses is during game situations. Instead of the traditional dirt mound, many little leagues and even colleges are starting to switch over to portable pitching mounds to be use during games. The advantages of using a portable mound in a game situation are that the mound is already built for you, so you don't have to build it out of dirt. Also, it will make it easier for pitchers to pitch in the elements since the mound won't wash away, like a dirt mound would. Another reason to use a portable mound is because they have the same feel as a dirt mound. Most of the mounds are made out of fiberglass giving the pitcher a nice landing spot. The third reason they should be used during games is due to their durability. Portable pitching mounds can last ten years or more.

Choosing the right game mound for your league:

There are multiple things you have to think about when buying a mound for your little league, baseball academy, or college. The first step is to make sure that the mound matches the specifications required by your league's rules. For example all states and little leagues (including Babe Ruth League, Little League, Pony League, etc.) have their own specifications on how long, wide, and high a mound should be. For kids under the age of twelve, most rules make the mound have to be six inches in height. While for thirteen to eighteen year old kids, the mound must be ten inches in height. The second thing you want to look at is whether the mound has been approved by your league. Some of the mounds have been approved for use in certain leagues, so it is a good idea to see which mound matches with your league. Another important step is to check on the manufacturer. When buying an expensive mound, you want to make sure you are getting the highest quality for your dollar. Top manufacturers like ProMounds, True Pitch, and Proper Pitch all produce excellent quality. There are plenty of other manufacturers that create quality mounds as well, but just be sure to check the reviews to see if other people were happy with their purchase. The final step is the price. When buying a mound, you have to make sure it is within your league's budget and that it is also at the lowest price on the internet.

If you follow all the above steps, you will undoubtedly find a mound that is perfect for you.
