Do You Believe Ryan Braun or Is He Guilty?

February 25, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 136

This off-season in Major League Baseball, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun was-accused of taking steroids and was facing a 50-game suspension. Braun had not made-a-statement on his behalf to clear his name of these allegations all off-season. On Friday, February 25, 2012 Braun had finally broke his silence to attempt to prove that these were certainly false allegations. He held a press-conference stating that illegal substances had never entered his system and he was very relieved to finally proclaim his innocence.

Now, the question remains if Braun is telling the truth? During the press-conference Braun made strong affirmations that seemed very believable that he did not use any illegal substances. There have been many circumstances that we have-witnessed a professional athlete attempt to clear his name with deception. However, there are several sports analysts believe that Braun might be telling the truth.

His teammates were ecstatic when they heard the news of Braun's suspension being lifted, as he won his appeal in court. Braun was able to avoid his suspension on a technicality, as the collector of his sample did not ship out the evidence immediately. He kept the sample in his refrigerator for two days before shipping it. Therefore, it raised many suspicions and chain-of-custody issues, as the sample could-of-been tainted in this process.

It is imperative for the anti-tampering seals to remain sealed when it arrives at the lab in Montreal. However, in this case the seals were-broken and therefore-made-the-evidence irrelevant. You also must-review the player accused of juicing up and any signs of his drug use. Throughout the year did Braun gain muscle mass, increase his bat swing, and become any stronger?

If you research the week-to-week tests results and video tapes. It will-reveal that he never did gain any weight of significance and his bat speed remained the same. Apparently, to the naked eye it looks like Braun may actually be-innocent of these charges. He did win the National League MVP award and because of this incident his credibility has-been-questioned. Braun also criticized baseball's drug testing system stating that you are guilty until prov-en innocent. Although, in the American judicial system it is just the opposite.

In conclusion, did Ryan Braun get lucky thanks to a technicality or was he really guilty? Major League Baseball will research this incident more thoroughly and attempt to discover how this happened. Is the system flawed in some-way, in the last few years it has been beneficial. So, why is it suddenly inadequate? Even if Braun has proved his innocence there are many fans out there that still believe he is guilty. Will Braun be categorized among the names of Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Mark McQwuire? Only time will tell if he can redeem his credibility, but for the moment the fans verdict is still pending.
