Tips on How to Transfer Your Kids to the Big Room

February 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 128

Most toddlers from ages 5 years old and below want to sleep in their parents' room. They feel safest around their mommies and daddies. Well, it is fun to be with your kids all the time but it is also recommended to train them to sleep on their own bed in the big room or their own room. This will prepare them to become more independent.

Are you having difficult times asking your kids to sleep in their own bedroom? It would be best to know first the different factors that may be causing this. Here are some of the most common factors as to why kids don't want to transfer in their own room:

1. They are afraid to be alone in the dark. 2. They think about the monsters that might get them at night. 3. They are already used to sleeping in the parents' room. 4. They do not want to sleep alone.

It is recommended to pinpoint the cause of your kids' refusal to transfer to their own room before making any moves. Well, here are some tips that you could consider to encourage your kids to sleep on their own bed:

1. Arrange their room according to their favourite things - it would be helpful to arrange the room of your kids according to their favourite things. For example, paint your little girl's room with flowers if she loves flowers and girly stuff while cars and cartoon characters like Spiderman, Batman and Superman for your baby boy. Arranging their room according to their favourite things will encourage them to transfer.

2. Give them teddy bear to hug at night - if they are afraid to be alone in the room then what you could do is to give them teddy bear or other stuffed toys to hug at night. You could tell the kids that this teddy bear will watch them sleep at night so there is no more reason to be afraid.

3. Read happy stories before they go to bed - it is also a good idea to read happy stories to them before they sleep at night. However, you should make sure to leave the room after you finished the stories. They will be having hard time to separate from you if you will continue to pamper them by sleeping on their bed with them.

4. Leave a lampshade light on - when you noticed that the kids are afraid of the dark then the best solution to that is to leave a lampshade light on. This way they will feel more comfortable sleeping on their own.

The tips mentioned in this article will help you transfer your kids to sleep in their own room. It is very important to show to your kids that you are serious and firm with your decision. You should not allow them to play some tricks on you so they could keep on sleeping in your room. You are doing this for their own sake as well so try to be firm with your decisions.
