Great First Birthday Gift Ideas

October 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 168

First Birthday's. What an exciting milestone! It's a "We Did It!" type of celebration. We survived the sleepless nights, endless crying and millions of loads of laundry. We enjoyed the first smile, first coo, bonded and now love this little human being more than we ever dreamed was possible. So, although the star of the show has no idea what's going on, first birthday's definitely calls for an extreme celebration!

If you have a first birthday coming up, finding the right gift can be a little tricky. At the first birthday the birthday kid is pretty clueless, but it's a fun way to celebrate the milestone with his parents.

Here are my top ten ideas for the first birthday gift:

  1. Money: Since the baby doesn't know or care what you give him, why not use this year to help jumpstart his college fund. If the parents are struggling financially you can give a Visa Giftcard. Then the parents can decide whether to use it for baby necessities or put it into a bank account for the child to use in the future.

  2. A Personalized Wall Sign for their room: This is something that will enhance the room decor and the baby will enjoy it when they get older. Find out what colors or which theme to use so you are sure it will match the baby's room.

  3. Personalized Birthday Crown: Find out what color outfit the birthday kid is wearing and get a personalized crown with their name and age on it. It will steal the birthday show and makes a great keepsake.

  4. Personalized Clothing: This will get used by the baby, but the parents will get a big kick out of it. If you would like to buy a personalized birthday tutu or t-shirt, let the parents know in advance so they don't purchase another birthday outfit. You can also buy a personalized dress, shortall or rhinestone t-shirt for everyday wear.

  5. Personalized Bath Towel: A towel is a personalized item that can be used now and for many years to come.

  6. A step stool: The little toddler will get much use out of a step stool in the coming year. They can wash at the sink or peer out the window. There is wide array of adorable step stool designs out there.

  7. Personalized Digital Scrapbook: If you have lots of pictures of the birthday kid, you can make him a personal book about his first year. Check the web for a company that can make personalized board books for kids They will love to look through this book again and again.

  8. Push Toys: Little Tikes makes great outdoor push toys. Toddlers love being pushed around in them and it makes life easier for the parents. They can push her around outside on quick errands without taking the stroller.

  9. Imaginative Play Toys: Although this is not something they will be using right away, a play kitchen or doll house is a great big ticket item that you can get them. They will use it at around 18 months.

  10. A Lovey: If your toddler doesn't have one yet, this is the perfect age for a security blanket, stuffed teddy or yummy pillow.
