Enjoying Your Vacation With Grand Canyon Plane Tours

February 21, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 148

Taking a family vacation is fun so why not take it to the next level by taking a Grand Canyon airplane tour? Indeed, the canyon is one of the most visited and photographed National Parks in the U.S. Don't settle for a mundane drive-through. Take an air tour and your family will be raving about your trip to their friends when they get back home.

The natural beauty of the Grand Canyon attracts more than 5 million visitors a year from around the world. Consequently, it's on everyone's "bucket list," and it's getting harder to bump into travelers these days who haven't experienced the "big ditch." However, these flights set you apart from the crowd as they've been proven to let you enjoy ten times more than the average tourist.

There are two places where you can catch a tour by plane to the Grand Canyon. One is from the Las Vegas and the other is Grand Canyon National Park Airport. Either way, you can be sure to get the ride of your life and the most bang for your travel buck as you witness the amazing sights and scenery that can only be had via a canyon aerial tour.

Each flight around the area only takes between an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. Most likely the aircraft you'll fly is a 17-seat Vistaliner. These fixed-wing planes were built for sightseeing and come with comfortable seats, big cabins, excellent A/C and huge viewing windows. Most offer a pre-recorded narration of the tour so you won't miss a thing as you enjoy the show below.

As early as the 1920s, these plane tours have been in operation to bring curious tourists and researchers around the area to marvel in the beauty of this natural wonder. Flying over the Mojave Desert, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam is such a remarkable experience. Even the flight over Boulder City (Vegas travelers only) thrills passengers as they pass over buildings and terrain that make up the local landscape.

There are many different kinds of air tours but the fact of the matter is they are two categories: Aerial and landing. Aerial tours are available at both rims and are ideal for travelers with limited time. Landing tours are more extensive. At the West Rim, you can add a helicopter flight, a boat ride or a Skywalk pass. Over at the South Rim, you can upgrade to include a smooth-water float tour. No matter how adventurous you are, there is sure to be a tour that will fit your budget.

Please considering booking your plane ride in advance. I suggest playing it safe and reserving at least 72 hours in advance. And don't purchase your flight at the destination. Further, avoid booking through hotel concierges and public ticket kiosks. You'll end up being charged full price with an airplane company you know nothing about.

Considering the massive scale of the Grand Canyon, a plane tour is really the only true way to fully experience this jewel of a National Park. Nothing beats flying thousands of feet above the region and seeing a landscape that's so colossal that it shows up in images taken by space satellites! By the end of your tour, you'll have seen a section of the Park that would quite literally take days on the ground to accomplish. So get airborne. The canyon challenges you to explore it and plane tours are the only mode of transportation that I know that are up to the task.
