Experience Days - Cars, Hot Air Balloons Or White Water Rafting!

Experience days have become an increasingly popular birthday present in recent years. Sadly we are not all going to be able to afford to buy our dream cars or planes, but with an experience day your loved one really can roar around a race track in their favourite car.

I have been bought experience days in the past which will live with me forever. One of the days was a white water rafting event. I did this in October so you can imagine how the cold the water was. My thoughts were to stay inside the boat, the instructor's thoughts were to turn the boat over! This would not be for everyone but it was amazing fun and something I would definitely recommend for an adrenaline junkie. I have also been extremely lucky and flown both a plane and a helicopter which were both amazing. The highlight which was my most recent experience was a flight in a hot air balloon. I bought an experience for two for my father's 65th birthday present. I booked the date for the flight but as balloon flights require the right weather conditions you have to check on the day for the flight. We were lucky so the 6.15 sunrise flight was definitely worth getting out of bed for. With a balloon flight you are surprisingly really involved in the setup. We all helped lift the basket from the trailer and then un-wrap the balloon. The next stage was for them to fill it with air. Two massive petrol powered fans were brought out to inflate the balloon. Once the air was inside the balloon they turned the heaters on. The heat from them kicked in and you could then see the balloon starting to stand up. The takeoff was a strange experience, rather than the feeling that you get from a plane in a balloon it feels like the ground is falling away. The basket is surprisingly very sturdy. This experience was amazing and i would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Attending an experience day a few days ago as a spectator I saw the delight on my brother's face as he buckled up in an Aston Martin. Even the spectators get a thrill with the magical engine noise that you can only hear from a super car with the cars' tyres screaming as they speed around the race track at Silverstone.

The next part of his day was an off-roading experience. As a passenger in the car it was incredible to see what these vehicles really can do. Most four wheel drive cars are simply used to get the kids to school with the most mud those great big 4x4 tyres tyres will ever see is if they are bumped up on the curb! My brother had never driven a 4x4 drive car before and after he was buckled up the instructor drove us to the 4x4 experience section. It had been raining heavily in the morning and it was bogged down with mud. The instructor then changed over and my brother took the controls. Mud was flying everywhere! With low range gears selected he put this vehicle through its paces. With unbelievable ease the Landrover had no problems driving up a hill that i can only describe as running mud which you would not have been able to walk up. We then took the vehicle into water that was so deep it came in through the doors and in to the footwells. Before we came home from the experience day we decided to watch some of the other activities that were going on including some single seat race cars out on one track which looked amazing. I can only imagine how exhilarating they are to drive sitting that close to the ground.
