I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in Fort Collins in 1994, and practiced holistic and conventional medicine in Denver. I am a former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association and past president of the Rocky Mountain Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. At this time, I'm retired from veterinary practice. (If you need a holistic health or veterinary consultation, please contact the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association to find a practitioner in your area.)

In addition to my conventional veterinary training, I have studied pet nutrition, veterinary homeopathy, veterinary homotoxicology, Reiki (Master), crystal healing, and holistic medicine. I have a strong interest in flower, animal, gem, and etheric essences, and founded Spirit Essence in 1995 (still the only line of essence formulas designed by a veterinarian).

I love to write and teach; my articles have been featured in Animal Wellness Magazine, Feline Wellness, Whole Dog Journal, Let's Live, and many others. My first book, The Complete Guide to Holistic Cat Care (co-authored with nutritionist Dr. Celeste Yarnall), won the prestigious Muse Medallion award for best book from the Cat Writers Association in 2010. My website/blog, Little Big Cat, won the Muse Medallion for best website in 2011.

I hope my articles help you take the very best care of your animal friends!
