Hello. I have been working in Health & Safety for about 8 years now and it is a great industry to work in. It is interesting, dynamic and above all you are helping people. It takes a while to get to grips with workplace Health & Safety as it is not quite what people think it is - yes, you are there to help keep people safe but mostly you are in your job to help a company fight insurance claims, keep them legal and out of the courts.

Health & Safety can be very frustrating because it can be largely ignored until something goes wrong then everyone looks to us to solve their problems!

I have worked in a medium sized organisation that had some H&S challenges but I have now started to get involved with small businesses and find it much more satisfying. In helping a small business I am able to really help them solve a problem, relieve some stress and move their business forward.

I have started writing about Health & Safety and find it quite a challenge but one that is getting easier the more I do it! I am looking to help people with their Health & Safety challenges and in writing about it I find I learn something as well.
