Having been in marketing and communications for most of my life - including a long period within publishing - writing articles is more of an indulgence than a task.

Those that I write are based mainly on experience and observations. And common sense. Above all I feel you need to be honest in what you say, and not too opinionated - although without opinion the article can become a pretty dull read.

So far I have issued article on hearing and partial deafness - not as a qualified professional in that field - but as a sufferer! Happily this is now relieved through the wearing of hearing aids.

Ask yourself. How many hearing aid specialists do you see wearing hearing aids? If I wanted REAL insight what it is like to live with hearing loss, I know who I would believe...

P.S. Please excuse the picture of me - taken in the '70's - my favourite Lynyrd Skynyrd era when, truth beknown, I didn't help my longer term hearing health by listening to "Freebird" too often, and too loud. But what a great way to go!

In a recent survey by the charity Action on Hearing Loss, 4 out of 5 people didn't realise that loud music can cause tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or damage your hearing. Or both.
