I hail from the town of San Antonio, and I guess that one of the main reasons for getting into this particular branch of the law might have something to do with the fact that both of my parents were Doctors, who ran a busy family practice in our city. My parents were committed to providing excellent medical care for those who could not afford the services of a private Doctor. The Hippocratic Oath is a code that both of them believed in and as a family we spent a lot of time in the free clinics and helping people who were not able to help themselves. Now, I just knew I was not going to follow them into the medical world, but the law surrounding medicine and medical bills was a way of following in their footsteps. This blog is a specialist one that focuses on the legal issues surrounding medical bills and the entire medical industry as a whole. As a paralegal at Allmand & Lee, I spend my days assisting three busy attorneys who specialize in this branch of the law. Maybe some of that medical talk from Mom and Dad rubbed off on me, because this has got to be one of the most fascinating, and complex areas of the law in America. Medical bills, medical litigation and the latest in the health care reform bills that are being lobbied in Washington; these are subjects that are close to my heart. My blog started as a way to give people the information that they needed about the subject of medical law and medical bills, but now it seeks to address all sorts of legal questions that people have on the subject of medicine. It's a no nonsense and direct approach, using language that is easily understandable and cuts to the chase. I am married to; you guessed it...a Doctor! My life Vanessa is a resident at one of the busiest hospitals in Dallas, and is looking at specializing in geriatric medicine and the care of the elderly. Our young daughter Kim, keeps us on our toes, and between 'doctoring' and 'lawyering' we've become pretty good at spending time at our local park with Kim.
