Kim is a member of the Writer's Guild of America, the National Communication Association's Honors Society Pi Lambda Eta, and an affiliate member of the APA. Prior to establishing himself as a screenwriter, Kim directed over 40 music videos for hip-hop innovators and a host of Grammy winning Jazz and R&B recording artist, including Al Jarreau and R. Kelly. Along the way he's earned special recognition from the NAACP for his music video directing and multiple MTV and Soul Train nominations for Best Music Video.

The award winning short Max's Summer Vacation, written and directed by Watson and starring screen legend Brock Peters, led to writing assignments for The Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers Pictures, MTV Films, as well as several movies of the week and the feature film HONEY, starring Mekhi Phifer and Jessica Alba.

Currently, Kim lectures and writes on screenwriting and cinema related topics as well as the role that creativity plays in the lives of individuals from across the socio-economic spectrum and at-risk communities, His lectures on The Art of the Pitch and The Creative Process have become a popular attraction among students at USC, Occidental College, Los Angeles Film School and Vanguard University, where Kim is an adjunct professor. Kim also contributes to the popular culture magazine Western Civilization on issues of culture and the arts.
