John grew up on a farm in Iowa, learning the blessings of responsibility and hard work. After graduating from Belle Plaine high school, John attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he attained a B.A. in English. Following three years of teaching English and coaching football and track, John attended Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 1984 with a Th.M. in New Testament Greek and literature.

Since then, he has served in full time ministry as a teacher and as a pastor. After pastoring three churches, John came on staff at Cypress Valley Bible Church as the director of adult ministries, from 1997 - 2011. In addition, he has taught Bible at LeTourneau University from 1993 to the present.

In 2011, John founded John Claeys Ministries which serves to prepare people for the coming kingdom by communicating key concepts from the Bible via writing and speaking through various media. This includes conference speaking, as well as the writing of books, articles, blogs, newsletters, and curricula.

In 2010, John's first book was published, Apocalypse 2012: The Ticking of the End Time Clock--What Does the Bible Say?, which analyzes the "2012" predictions; then describes the incredible and specific predictions of the Bible between now and the return of Christ to the earth. This, however, is not John's first venture into writing, as he wrote a fifteen-workbook Bible study curriculum for Christian high schools, a life of Christ course for LeTourneau University, review articles for the Journal of the Grace Evangelical Society, and more than twenty adult Bible studies.

Among other projects, John is currently writing a book on the Bible's predicted future, thousand-year rule of Christ on the earth. In addition, John writes a (free) weekly newsletter ("2012 Alerts"), and he writes a regular blog for The Christian Post ("End Times Alerts").

John is married to Connie and has two sons in college. He enjoys sports, reading, writing, studying and teaching the Bible, and spending time with his family.
