Dr. Williamson is a member in good standing of the Virginia Chiropractic Association. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from the University of California in Santa Cruz. He then attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1998. Before graduation, he earned Advanced Certification in the Gonstead Technique. He also participated in the preceptor program where he spent his last trimester working at Santa Cruz Chiropractic and Sports Medicine Clinic. After graduation, Dr. Williamson practiced in his hometown of Santa Cruz, California for two years before being recruited by Chiropractic Centers of Virginia. He has been with Chiropractic Centers of Virginia since 2002. An avid runner and published author, his specialty is working with sports injuries. "I discovered Chiropractic when I was in high school. I played football. During a game, I tackled an opposing player and jammed my neck. It didn't really hurt, so I played through the rest of the game. I clearly remember when I woke up the next morning, I felt a little "catch" in my neck. So, I turned my head to the right to stretch it out. That's when my neck got completely stuck. When I tried to turn my head even slightly back in the other direction, lightning bolts of pain shot through my body. I couldn't move. I couldn't lie down. I had to sleep in a reclining chair that night. I was in so much pain that I cried in my mother's arms. And I was a pretty tough kid! The next day I went to the chiropractor and after one adjustment, I felt miraculously better! I was extremely grateful to that doctor. However, he didn't teach me about the benefits of corrective and wellness care. After that one visit, I didn't see another chiropractor until I started working for one about 10 years later, which is what ultimately sent me down the path to becoming a chiropractor. My personal mission is to take the time to educate as many people as possible about the benefits of chiropractic care. My goal is to explain how the body works and heals in a way that people don't need to be a doctor to understand. In my opinion, knowledge empowers people to take responsibility for their health and to make better health care decisions."
