Jim Thomas is advisor to The Number 1 Bed & Breakfast Website, because he is the member of our team with the most Bed & Breakfast experience. He has been involved with Bed & Breakfast for more than 22 years. In 1987 he began a Bed and Breakfast in Wellington, New Zealand, and also established The New Zealand Bed & Breakfast Book and a year later, The Australian Bed & Breakfast Book. Jim has had extensive bed & breakfast experience in New Zealand and in many other countries. He and his wife Jan stay exclusively at B&Bs when they travel, if they can, and have lost count of the number they have stayed at. In 1987 Jim and Jan began their Bed &; Breakfast in Wellington, New Zealand. In the same year Jim began publishing The New Zealand Bed & Breakfast Book, and it has been the most popular Bed & Breakfast guide in New Zealand since it began. In 1989 Jim published The Australian Bed & Breakfast Book. He still owns it and it is published with the skilled experience of Carl Southern, who has also operated Bed & Breakfasts for a number of years. Jim was a founding member of The New Zealand Farm and Home Hosts Association, and served on its board for three years. His booklet Hints for Getting Started in B&B has been distributed freely throughout New Zealand and Australia. Jim has been guest speaker at B&B conferences in New Zealand and Australia. We are grateful to have a person of Jim Thomas's experience and ability to work with us on The Number 1 Bed & Breakfast website. The website of The New Zealand Bed & Breakfast Book is consistently the top ranking site when searching for such terms as "Bed & Breakfast" and "New Zealand". Jim has helped a huge amount with the improvement of our website and we hope we have the expertise of this "wise old man of B&B" for a long time to come.
