Matthew Harris holds an MA (First Class Honours) in English from The University of Auckland and has just completed a PhD in Literature at Massey University in Auckland, where he was nominated for Lecturer of the Year in 2010, lecturing Academic Writing, and tutoring Creative Writing and Communication in the Sciences. Matthew has been described by Witi Ihimaera as the 'Woody Allen of young New Zealand literature' and Stephanie Johnson has called his writing 'honest and erudite[...]with a wonderfully dry, ironic sense of humour'. His work been published variously, from academic articles in Landfall and The Literary Encyclopedia to creative writing in Poetry New Zealand, Trout, North and South, Southern Ocean Review, Kokako, Blackmail Press, and many international publications. Most recently his film script 43000 Feet was selected for a Premiere executive grant from the New Zealand Film Commission, and is currently in post-production, due for release mid-2012. His second short film, Snoozetime, is scheduled for production in March 2012.
