Melanie McMillan is a professional writer and editor. She is also very knowledgeable about natural fragrance, having formally studied botanical essences in the U.S. and in France.

Melanie recently launched her first book, a quirky little e-Book: Fashion from the field. She has been selected as one of 20 Litchfield County, Connecticut authors to participate in the Torrington (Connecticut) Public Library's Summer Author Expo.

In addition, she has recently launched Melanie's Circle, an online project with a mission to help women unify areas of their lives that can seem so disconnected, such as home, work, relationships, fashion, beauty--and spirituality.

WRITER As a writer, Melanie has penned home and garden feature articles for Tribune Company newspapers and worked as associate editor for the award-winning paper, The Litchfield County Times. She has also been a corporate writer, and has written for consumer magazines. Subjects that she has persuasively written about include business, fashion, fragrance, sports, politics, animals, gardening, and religion and spirituality--to name a few.

As a blogger, she was among the first to earn a living from blogging several years ago when she worked for a company that manufactures products for women in midlife.

During the past four years Melanie has successfully written technical papers, unearthing a writing talent that she never realized she had. Most recently, she gained enough experience in--and success with--search engine optimization to add SEO writer to her skill set.

LECTURER AND PRESENTER In addition to her vast experience as a writer, Melanie has an affinity for the spoken word. She has been a senior spokesperson for a Fortune 500 company, and also for a privately held, global corporation that is a market leader in its industry.

She has lectured on natural scent in places such as the prestigious Mayflower Inn Spa, located in Washington, Connecticut, in healthcare settings and for garden clubs and other groups. She also conducts workshops on aromatherapy and natural perfumery, and consults privately with clients on ways they can use natural fragrance to enhance their everyday lives.

EDUCATION In 1982 Melanie graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio with a bachelor's degree in journalism.

She is currently studying theology and ethics.

In the year 2000, Melanie received formal certification in aromatherapy from the Australasian School of Herbal Studies in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Part of her studies with the school were conducted in the South of France.
