The Future of HDTV

February 23, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 157

With high definition TVs you are set to watch programs on your screen as if you were in the theatre. Besides, an HDTV is capable of reproducing digital sound and can have 5 speakers plugged to it to enhance the sound quality.

While we are yet to exhaust all the benefits of current high definition televisions, and while many users still are struggling with how to pick the best, how to manipulate HDTV, the future of this type of TV seems to be fast getting to us.

The usual attention that LCD and Plasma TVs get seems to have shifted to OLED models during the 2012 CES. Apart from Samsung, LG Electronics presented the thinnest OLED television measuring not up to 0.16" thick and weighing barely 16.5 pounds.

It is worth recalling some positive qualities of OLED high definition TVs. They offer wider viewing angles with improved brightness meaning that the picture quality is awesome; their response time enables them to have a better refresh rate than LCD sets. OLEDs are light and help not to waste energy.

While talking about OLED, it is important not to confuse it with LED technology. LED (light-emitting diode) only illuminates an LCD screen; while the illumination in OLED televisions has the same source as the image which is why there is a cost-cut on energy.

At the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) LG showed a TV set that has resolution that is four times the pixel count of a 1080p HDTV. Sharp on its side displayed a set whose resolution is 16 times that of a 1080p high definition TV. These technologies with very high resolution are a picture of what the future is likely to be when you talk about HDTV.

Another interesting creativity demonstrated at the show was the possibility of using voice control and hand gestures to give commands to your HDTV, in the place of the standard remote control. Some are planning to offer systems by which your face will be a determining factor to logging you in before you can use some features of the set.

Indeed, surprises await us with future HDTV technologies. Man can't help but outdo himself and his past. The science fiction concepts of yesteryears are gradually becoming the reality in which we are living. Some of the features will enhance the implementation of parental control and guarantee our privacy as well. It is true that the new developments may not be readily affordable for the budget of many users, but it is evident that there is no more going back. They are a product of technological evolution and as such have come to stay.

While waiting to know the actual price of OLED sets, you can equally check out Samsung's newest UNES8000 Smart LED TV that promises brighter picture and U-shaped stand.
