Choosing ATV Winches

May 02, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 192

Got caught in a muddy position while driving your all-terrain vehicle (ATV)? You might want to get an ATV winch to save yourself from frustration and get yourself out of that sticky situation.

Secure the cable or rope from your winch to something that could serve as an anchor and allow the motor of your winch to pull your vehicle out of the mud. This is how a winch works. This task may seem simple but it requires a great amount of work and force which ATV winches can easily offer without a sweat.

There are a lot of winches to choose from since the market now offers a wide range of winches whether they may be hydraulic types or electric types. It is important though that one would consider that rated line pull of a winch which indicates the maximum weight the winch can safely pull. You must also be aware of the weight and size of your vehicle. With a little use of mathematics, you will be able to calculate if the winch of your choice would be efficient for your ATV. The size of your vehicle also matters since you have to attach the winch to either the front or the back part of your ATV. The weight of the winch should also be kept in mind. It might be too heavy and may hinder your ATV to perform in its fullest. It is important though that one would consider that rated line pull of a winch which indicates the utmost weight the winch can safely pull. It is also important that you know the size and weight of your vehicle. With slightly calculation, you will determine if a certain winch is suitable to your ATV. The size of your vehicle is also an important consideration since you would need to attach the winch to the ATV whether on the front or back part. Consider also the weight of the winch. It could be too heavy and may be cumbersome to the full functioning of the ATV.

The line used should also be taken into consideration. Some are made of steel cables which are strong and won't melt even when exposed to too much heat while others are made of synthetic rope which is also strong and is less dangerous to handle compared to the steel ones. Each kind of line has their advantages and disadvantages and it is up to you to weigh them out and choose which line to avail of. However, there are some winches that can have both kinds of lines.

With safety and efficacy in mind, you can choose the ATV winch that best suits your vehicle and at the same time can serve its purpose well.

When you think of winches and companies that make them, there's only one company that stands out from the rest, Warn. In fact, Warn is quickly becoming synonymous with Winch. Warn makes high quality, reliable winch that is well known in the off-roading community. This is why Go Warn, an online retailer for over 10 years, sells exclusively Warn winches and Warn ATV winches.
