Are You Playing To Lose, Or Are You Playing To Win?

April 19, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 150

Let me ask you a question. You don't have to tell me, only you will know the answer. Yet, it accurately predicts your level of success. The question is...Are you playing to win or are you playing not to lose?

Now before you answer, because I know what we all would say out loud, I want you to think about what you are really saying to yourself internally. See most people do what they do because they have to.

It's something we're conditioned with from the early childhood. You know when your parents tell you that you have to eat your vegetables, clean your room, make up your bed, go to school, etc...Is it any wonder most people carry this attitude into their adulthood? They roll out of bed in the morning because they have to. They go to their job, even if they hate it, because they have to.

Even when it comes to money, they're playing the money game because they have to. I know for a fact that it is very rare to find someone who is excited about saving and investing their money. They do it because they have to save for retirement so they won't graduate into poverty by 65.

What it all boils down to is this. Most people play not to lose, and I believe they got it all backwards! Can you think of one super-star athlete or a successful business person who was playing it safe and did only enough to get by, instead of really going for it?

I can't.

When you play not to lose, you're playing it safe and you're in the defense mode. And when you're playing defense, you simply can't score, let alone win the game. In my book, there's no neutral. Everything around us, including us, is either growing or dying. You either win or lose.

And that choice is made on a daily basis with the actions we take. And equally important is our attitude and the emotional energy we put behind those actions. You know what I'm talking about. When you're inspired, things are easy to do. You don't have to make yourself do it and everything just flows.

You get more excited, and you attract new fresh ideas, you never feel stuck, because you keep the big picture in front of you at all times. You start operating on a completely different level. All of a sudden work becomes fun and not a chore; something you have to do.

Whether you're writing blog posts, emails, doing follow up calls, attending training sessions or holding them for your team... everything you do gets done quicker and you're a heck of a lot more effective. Your attitude becomes contagious and literally jumps out at everyone you come in contact with, even through your content online, because it's beaming with your enthusiasm.

Doors of opportunity swing wide open in front of you, because you suspend your disbelief. You are now in the driver's seat of your business and your life while most people are sitting in the backseat without any control of what happens to them, whatsoever.

Now Isn't That A Much Better Place To Operate From? Isn't it more exciting to do things because you want to instead of have to? Wouldn't you just love to jump out of bed in the morning and embrace your day instead of dragging your feet just trying to make it?

See, it all starts with this attitude of playing to win and not to lose. This is very important. And when you do, it's just a matter of time before everything clicks and you're on an easy path towards the life you truly desire.

Now is the time to Play To Win! I hope you've enjoyed and received some inspiration from this article.
