Article content for Marketing

You would be amazed if you knew the effects that an article with great content could create for your business. Article marketing is all the rave these days. Most business owners who conduct marketing for their company online have heard of it, if they have not already used the strategy themselves. A few well written articles published on the Internet can have a huge positive effect on your company's brand, business and sales. So, why is that and what is article marketing in the first place? Read on.

What on Earth is Article Marketing?

Article marketing, in a nutshell, is basically when pieces of content (articles) are uploaded online by business owners and Internet marketers in the hopes of spreading their business brand, increasing the amount of traffic that their website gets, increasing sales, attracting more clients and giving valuable information to the reader of the article. These articles often contain a 'Bio' box with some short info about the business behind the article, and a link to their website, and sometimes even some contact info. If you are a great writer, then this may sound easy enough. However, for most people, writing is something that they do not excel at. Therefore, it is advisable to outsource this task to article writers (or freelance writers) who have a lot of experience in writing articles for the purpose of increasing business and sales.

Why You Need to Find a Great Writer

So where do you find these great article writers if you happen to not be Ernest Hemingway, or in case you simply do not have time to write the articles yourself? Well, networking would be a great place to start, or asking other business owners in case they have someone to lend to you. However, chances are that if they have found a great writer, they will want to keep him/her to themselves. So you might have to do a bit of searching before you find someone who can churn out great articles for your marketing campaigns. There are a lot of outsourcing websites where you can find writers with a lot of talent, but also writers with, well, not so much talent. It is important to keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Also, remember that the brand of your business is at stake, so you do not want to upload content of mediocre quality. The better the article is, the higher the chance that people share it with others on social networking platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. Also, there is also the possibility of your article being syndicated (when your article is distributed on other sites as well, and thus increasing its amount of viewers).

So What Exactly Should Be Written In These Articles to Maximize Business and Sales?

First off, content is king. It has become a meme for a reason. Therefore, starting off with highly valuable pieces of writing is the first base that needs to be covered. Valuable could mean informative, easy-to-read, and perhaps even entertaining. That said, maybe you do not want the article content to be too informative for your reader either (depending on your business model). Leave the reader wanting more. Pose questions, but do not answer all of them, or if you do, do not go into too much detail. However, if you sell physical products, then maybe you would want to provide as informative content as possible, going into detail about the subject at hand, showing off your expertise. That would eventually lead to more and more people seeing your business as an authority in your niche.

Besides writing highly valuable content, it is important to keep in mind that this is supposed to be an informative piece of content. It is not a sales page. If it reads too much like a sales pitch, then that will make the reader click away and get the information that they are looking for somewhere else. Internet users have a very short attention span.

As just mentioned, with the short attention span that Internet users have, it is important to not make the article too long. Generally, staying below 1000 words is advisable. Of course, you need get traffic to these articles as well, so writing the article content with SEO and LSI keywords in mind would most likely be the ideal way of going about it for you. That said, some marketers prefer to avoid writing with keywords at the front of their mind, which can work as well. When the content is written naturally, the whole issue of SEO often takes care of itself.

It bears repeating that article marketing is a very effective strategy when it comes to driving more traffic to your website or sales page. This bears true only IF you make sure to put out quality content. Quantity helps as well of course. If you cover both, you are certain to see great results from this marketing method that has truly stood the test of time.
